Cette année, nous célébrons le centenaire de Moondog. Spécialiste et surtout passionné par la personnalité de Louis Thomas Hardin alias Moondog, Amaury Cornut travaille depuis 2009 à la promotion de ce compositeur singulier. BIO
Minisym is an instrumental ensemble formed in Spring 2013 by Moondog specialist Amaury Cornut. After many concerts and the release of a first album (‘New Sound’, Les Disques Bongo Joe, December 2017), the musicians of the Ensemble Minisym have the pleasure of welcoming in their ranks the pianist Dominique Ponty who accompanied Moondog during his final concerts. Using an unusual instrumentation of piano, violin cello, Indian harmonium and percussion, the six musicians continue to render the unique musical panorama of this American composer. From his earliest melodies to his final compositions, from the United States to Europe, the ensemble describes in musical terms the singular trajectory of a blind composer who wandered the streets of New York City dressed as a Viking, and who counted among his most fervent admirers Igor Stravinsky, Charlie Parker, Philip Glass and Elvis Costello. Skilled in treading unbeaten paths and benefitting from the tireless research and collecting of its founder, the ensemble interprets unpublished pieces that had never been recorded, or even played. At first anchored in a past devoid of nostalgia, then driven by an almost mystical sense of modernity, it is a music that puts contemporary urgency in the service of forgotten traditions, allowing the Ensemble Minisym to thread its way through the spaces Moondog left still open.
